In 2017 Armenian girls had their first participation in the world’s largest technology entrepreneurship competition “Technovation.”
The program offers girls around the world the opportunity to learn necessary skills to emerge as tech entrepreneurs and leaders.
Every year, Technovation challenges 10 to 18 year old girls to build business plans and
mobile app that address a community problem. Every year teams are challenged to develop mobile applications to address a problem(s) align with Key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). There are six possible tracks: Environment, Poverty, Peace, Equality, Education, and Health.
Since 2009 (is this date correct), over 25,000 girls haveparticipated from over 115 countries (Source: technovationchallenge.org).
Technovation Girls Armenia is the national contest of Technovation which helps narrow gender gap and boosts female leaders in ICT (Information and Communication Technologies).
- Girls have an opportunity to receive 21st century technology entrepreneurship knowledge and skills, have their role in sustainable impact on their communities
- The length of the program is not limited to learning coding they learn to solve problems, , grow as individuals and become skillful collaborators.
- The social element of learning – Girls learn to work in teams on a common goal.
- Community validation – Girls are empowered to have their say in their community issues and solve problems, that results in powerful attitude shifts.
87% of participants express willingness to participate in coming Technovation Armenia programs, as well to mentoring the new comers.

- So far 316 teams, 1600 schoolgirls, , 300 informatics teachers, mentors have participated in Technovation Armenia from all marzes of Armenia.
- Since 2017 138+ mobile applications have been created by the Armenian teams.

About Technovation Girls Armenia 2021

In 2021 teams are challenged to develop mobile app solutions that addresse issues aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Environment, Poverty, Peace, Equality, Education, and Health and not only.

By 2025 inclusive component will implemented in education without exception. This year applications will also be addressed to inclusiveness and its issues In 2021 people with special needs; schoolgirls and mentors will be encouraged to participate in the competition. Participants with special needs will be provided with necessary assistance.

Girls, ages 10 to 18 years old are eligible to participate in Technovation Girls program. They form teams; 3-5 members, and work with a mentor, who is a teacher and/or a technology specialist.

‘Junior team --girls, ages 10-14 senior team. Girls, ages 15-18

The program intends a 12-week online teaching, with a 50- hour English curriculum which is open to everyone. The program consists of four parts; Ideation, coding, business/marketing and pitching/presentation.

Teams develop apps with App Inventor or Thunkable programs elaborated by Massachusetts Institute of Technology . Teachers and girls from remote regions are provided with distance consultation.

We have been providing the participants with training courses and video materials in Armenian.

“Technovationalso fixes its attention on community building . It is important that girls, teachers, and community members work together to identify issues and to implement their programs applying technologies. . The teams first compete in Armenia and then the winners have a chance to participate in the international competition administered by Google. Winners are invited to the World Summit and award granting ceremony held in MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in Boston.
In 2017 AGBU Central Board member, President of Synopsys Armenia and the Chief Architect of Synopsys Corporation Dr. Yervant Zorian, became the first Goodwill Ambassador of AGBU Armenia’s BRIDGE4CSOs program for Technovation Armenia.
